Tribal married woman stripped in front of entire village for allegedly eloping with lover

A tribal married woman in Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh was reportedly stripped naked on the night of December 31, for eloping with her alleged lover.

Reports say, the woman and her alleged lover had eloped a week ago to Gujarat but was brought back by her husband and the village Sarpanch on December 31. A few hours after her return, the 25 year old woman and a mother of two, along with her lover Kamlesh were produced before the tribal panchayat.

According to the reports, both of them were beaten up in front of the villagers and then their heads were shaved off. Following this, the woman was stripped and Kamlesh was forced to "wash her breasts".

The incident happened in front of the entire village, but nobody came to her rescue. Though the woman's husband opposed his wife's humiliation, there was nothing that could stop this shameful act.

The woman reported the incident to the police on Thursday who registered case against ten miscreants. "We have booked 10 persons under Section 354A, 294, 323, 120B, 147 and 506, and raids are being conducted to arrest them", incharge of Alirajpur police station, Gopichand Patel was quoted by a media organisation.
