Transgender, leprosy patients in Tripura to get monthly allowance

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has declared a monthly allowance of Rs 500 for transgenders and leprosy patients.

"The decision to provide an allowance to each transgender person and those deformed due to leprosy was taken in the meeting of the council of minister," said Sarkar

Meanwhile, female Anganwadi workers will be paid Rs 350/- as a monthly pension, while other categories will be paid Rs 500/- per month.

The Tripura government has separately declared allowances for personnel in 20 sectors, especially for the poorer sections. "You are aware that in our state other than the central government, three schemes of financial allowance for the weaker section of the people, the state government has been giving allowance in 20 other sections and all total there are 23 allowances in our state," said Sarkar.
