Hitting out at the Bihar government over back-to-back loots in three passenger trains in the state, senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday said such incidents indicate that "Bihar is fast slipping to jungleraj (lawlessness) part-2".

"Three trains in Patna-Hatia (Ranchi) Pataliputra Express, Samastipur-Madhepura Passenger and Gorakhpur-Siwan Passenger have been brazenly robbed by dacoits in different parts of the state in the last two days. Several travellers have been injured in these incidents and valuables worth many lakhs of rupees been taken away from them. It seems Bihar is fast slipping to jungleraj part-2," Modi said.

The senior BJP leader attacked Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi saying he was just laying down foundation stones of projects, making announcements and controversial comments. "Manjhi is behaving like Nero, who played flute while Rome was burning. The people of Bihar are being reminded of the old days of lawlessness. Train travellers are again becoming afraid of passing through the state," he said.

Modi, who is also the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Council said there have been over a dozen incidents of train dacoity and robbery, instilling passengers with fear. Modi also demanded deploying police escort parties in all trains, strengthening patrolling by Government Rail Police (GRP), speedy trial against the culprits and compensation of the passengers who have been robbed by the dacoits.
