In top news of the day on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, India's food delivery sector has become a duopoly as Zomato announced the acquisition of Uber Eats in India. With this, Swiggy remains Zomato's only competition in the market. In another big news of the day, Home Minister Amit Shah has challenged opposition leaders including Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav for a debate on the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). 

A piece of tragic news came from Nepal where eight Indian tourists, hailing from Kerala, died after they were found unconscious at a resort. 

Meanwhile, the conflict over the CAA and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC) continues to plague the JD(U) as a senior leader of the party questioned Nitish Kumar on the decision to stitch an alliance with the BJP for Delhi assembly elections. 

In sports news, India's junior cricket team chased down the measly target of 42 inside 5 overs against debutants Japan in the ICC U19 World Cup 2020. In another cricket news, the senior team suffered a huge blow as opener Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand due to a shoulder injury.

Deepika Padukone who attended the World Economic Forum Annual in Davos, Switzerland has been bestowed with Crystal Award for her contribution towards Mental Health Awareness.

Eight Indian tourists from Kerala die in Nepal

According to Kathmandu police, all eight of the tourists had been staying at a single room in the resort and had turned on a gas heater at night to tackle the cold. The initial probe suggests that the cause of death might be suffocation as a result of that.

Zomato acquires Uber Eats

Food delivery company and restaurant aggregator Zomato on Tuesday said that it has acquired the online food delivery business of Uber Technologies, Inc in India, also known as Uber Eats. The all-stock deal is likely to push Zomato to the top position in India's food delivery market, ahead of Swiggy.

During an interaction with a daily, when Aamir was asked if he read comments on the posts he shares on social media, the superstar stated, "Yes, I do read them occasionally. Especially around my film’s release, I definitely do, because I want to know what people feel about the film and my character. That’s the time when I go and particularly look for what people are saying."
