Toilet stamps on school books add new dimension to swachh mission

To make Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan a success in Rajasthan the odd experiments put into practice by the state machinery got a new dimension in Kota. The administration here has decided to stamp students’ course books who are not having toilets so they could remind their parents each day for constructing facility at home and not to defecate open.

The queer order issued by Kota Zila Parishad CEO Jugal Kishore Meena come into effect in 1,350 schools situated in urban and rural areas of the district.

“As per the directions contained in the order the heads of schools asked to make two stamps- Kanchan Ghar (houses having toilets) and Shochalaya Vihin (houses without toilets). The free course books being given to the students starting this year will be imprinted with stamps. It is aimed to motivate students so they could remind parents of construction of toilets under Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. When the toilets get constructed the stamp on Shochalaya Vihin will be removed from the books,” informed the CEO.

When asked the decision not to generate inferiority complex among the students and create a mental pressure, he denied it out-rightly.

“There is no chance of students getting demoralized with the order. We just want to ensure construction of toilets. Aside this, we also decided to distribute students pledge paper which asks them to get erected toilets in the houses. The pledge will have advantages, disadvantage of having toilets at home. Heads of the schools will ensure the distribution of it,” said the top official who circulated the order to the education department officials to comply it strictly.

Under SBM the state officials are adopting new ways to aware masses of having toilets at homes.
