In an attempt to impress the girlfriend with an expensive gift, a BTech graduate from Delhi stole a watch worth Rs 90,000 from a delivery boy and then walked away with it.

The accused identified as Vaibhav Khurana had ordered Rado wristwatch as a 'surprise birthday' gift, even when he did not have money to buy the same, reported Hindustan Times.

Khurana, a resident of Delhi’s Model Town, hatched a plan to order the watch online by tendering false address. On July 23, he ordered a wristwatch priced Rs 90,000 which was available on the website for Rs 67,000.

However, when the delivery boy contacted him to confirm his availability and the address, the accused asked him to meet somewhere else.

“Khurana asked a delivery boy to meet him outside the Kashmere Gate Metro station. The two met there and Khurana tricked him into accompanying him on his bike to Civil Lines, saying he would collect the order and pay the money at home,” Deputy commissioner of police (North) Nupur Prasad told the daily.

Upon reaching, on the pretext of parking bike, Kurhana asked the delivery boy to ring door bell an ran away with the bag containing the delivery box.

Police have arrested the accused and recovered the watch and a Hunk motorcycle from the accused who is employed as a supervisor in a hotel in Gurugram. His father is a property dealer.
