In a shocking incident, Trinamool Congress MLA Satyajit Biswas has been killed by unidentified assailants. He was a legislator from Krishnaganj in Nadia district, known as TMC stronghold.
On Saturday evening he was attacked by criminals. The incident happened in Fulbari area of Majdiya. There the MLA had gone for a Saraswati Puja inauguration. After that, a cultural programme was being held. The MLA along with other TMC leaders were present in the first row. Suddenly the attackers came and shot Biswas from close range. Before anyone could react, they escaped from the spot. Biswas was heavily bleeding and he was rushed to the Krishnagar Hospital where he was declared dead by doctors.
The TMC Nadia district president Gaurishankar Dutta directly blamed BJP leader Mukul Roy for the murder. “Mukul Roy had been trying very hard to break TMC’s organization in the district. This is a political murder and we are sure that this is the handiwork of the BJP,” said Dutta.Mukul Roy couldn’t be reached over the phone for a comment.
On the other hand, BJP state president Dilip Ghosh termed the murder as a result of TMC factional feud and ruled out the allegations of BJP’s involvement. “This is a politics of murder that has engulfed the state. In the last couple of months, each time a TMC leader or a supporter is killed, they blame our party. I want the truth to be revealed through the investigation and the guilty be punished,” said Ghosh.
Meanwhile, a huge contingent of police force has been rushed to the spot and a pistol has been recovered from the spot.A few days back, Satyajit Biswas raised his voice against corrupt racket in paddy buying system during an administrative meeting.
