A training cell of Islamic militants from Bangladesh recently exposed in Burdwan district in West Bengal gave rise to allegation of involvement of Trinamool Congress from BJP and CPIM, its two main political opponents in the state. Two women were arrested and a man detained on Sunday in connection with the blast that left two suspected militants dead.

Burdwan Superintendent of Police S M H Mirza said the two women – Rajira Bibi alias Rumi hailing from Karimpur in Nadia and Amina Bibi from Lalbagh in Murshidabad -- were arrested from Khagragarh on Sunday morning. Later, another person identified as Hatij Mollah was detained by a CID team from his house at Khar Duttapa in Purbostholi, about 70km from Burdwan.

Mirza said the two women were produced before a Burdwan court which sent them to police custody for nine days. They had been detained on the day of the blast on October 2 in a house in Khagragarh in Burdwan town.

Rajira Bibi is the widow of suspected militant Shakil Ahmed, who was killed in the explosion while Amina Bibi is the wife of Hasan Saheb, who was critically injured in the blast and is under treatment at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital. The second dead man was identified as Sovan Mandal.

The CID of West Bengal police is looking into possible involvement of terror outfits like LeT and HuJI in the blast.

"We have come to know that both the tenants and the landlord of the house at Khagragarh locality where the explosion took place are close to the Trinamool Congress. It is an ominous sign for us. It is surprising that the ruling Trinamool Congress is giving indulgence to the banned Muslim fundamentalists, which in turn is posing threat not only to the state but also to the entire nation," West Bengal Left Front Chairman Biman Bose said on Sunday.

BJP leaders said Haji Hasan Chowdhury, the landlord of the two-storeyed house where the blast occurred on October 2 is a Trinamool leader.

Trinamool party flags were seen in a room in the ground floor of the two-storied building which was being used as a party office.

Trinamool general secretary Mukul Roy denied any link between the party and the incident who also claimed there was no party office there.

A local Trinamool leader, however, told reporters that the house was indeed used as a party camp office but only during Panchayat polls.

The CPIM leader alleged that after the terror cell was found out, local Trinamool leaders hurriedly removed party hoardings.

Central investigating agency officials meanwhile alleged non-cooperation by state police, which, they said even destroyed evidences by controlled blasting of all the 55 bombs that were recovered from the site.
