Tiruvannamalai Lok Sabha Constituency 2019: Tiruvannamalai parliamentary constituency will go to polls on April 18, which is the second phase of Lok Sabha election 2019. The polling in all the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu will be held in the second phase. The key contest in Tiruvannamalai in 2019 is going to be held among AIADMK’s SS Agri Krishnamurthy and DMK’s CN Annadurai.

AIADMK's R Vanaroja is the sitting MP in Tiruvannamalai who had defeated DMK's CN Annadurai in 2014 with a margin of more than 1.5 lakh votes. However, in the forthcoming election, AIADMK has fielded SS Agri Krishnamurthy against DMK's Annadurai.

The two major parties in Tamil Nadu — AIADMK and DMK — has entered into an alliance with a number of parties for the forthcoming elections. 
 
AIADMK is contesting the election in alliance with BJP, PMK, DMDK, Tamil Maanila Congress, Puthia Tamizagam, Puthia Needhi Katchi and NR Congress. While the DMK has aligned with Congress, CPI(M), CPI, MDMK, VCK, IUML, KMDK and IJK.  

Since both AIADMK and DMK have aligned with a number of parties for the upcoming elections, the two parties will directly contest against each other in only 8 seats. 

According to the 2011 census data, Tiruvannamalai houses a total of 144,683 people out of which 72,351 are males and 72,332 females. The district has an average literacy rate of 82%.

Tamil Nadu has a total of 39 parliamentary constituencies where 7 of them including Sriperumbudur, Chidambaram, Rasipuram, Pollachi, Perambalur, Tenkasi, and Nagapattinam have been reserved for candidates representing scheduled caste community. However, no seat here has been reserved for Scheduled Tribes.

Tiruvannamalai Lok Sabha results in 2014 and 2009 

2014: R Vanaroja of the AIADMK received 500751 votes and he defeated CN Annadurai of the DMK who only got 332145 votes. 

2009: Thiru Venugopal Danapal of the DMK received 436866 votes. He defeated A Gurunathan of the PMK who only got 288566 votes.

Thiruvallur, Chennai North, Chennai South, Chennai Central, Sriperumbudur, Kancheepuram, Arakkonam, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tiruvannamalai, Arani, Viluppuram, Kallakurichi, Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Tiruppur, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Pollachi, Dindigul, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Sivaganga, Madurai, Theni, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukkudi, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari.

Parliamentary elections 2019 are taking place in 7 phases. The first phase voting has already taken place which was held on April 11. The remaining phases will go to polls on April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19. Counting of votes will be held on May 23.
