Tiruppur Lok Sabha constituency: Lok Sabha election in Tiruppur will be held in the second phase of General election on April 18. Polling in all 39 parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu will be held in the second phase. In Tiruppur, the key contest is going to take place between AIADMK's MSM Anandan, SR Selvam of the TTV Dhinakaran's Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) and CPI's K Subbarayan. 

Mayawati's BSP has also fielded its candidate C Ayyanar from Tiruppur Lok Sabha seat.

The two major parties in Tamil Nadu — AIADMK and DMK — has entered into an alliance with a number of parties for the forthcoming elections. 
 
AIADMK is contesting the election in alliance with BJP, PMK, DMDK, Tamil Maanila Congress, Puthia Tamizagam, Puthia Needhi Katchi and NR Congress. While the DMK has aligned with Congress, CPI(M), CPI, MDMK, VCK, IUML, KMDK and IJK.  

V Sathyabama of the AIADMK is the sitting MP who defeated N Dineshkumar of the DMDK with a margin of close to 2 lakh votes in 2014. 

 

The average literacy rate here is 79%.

2014: V Sathyabama(F) of the AIADMK got 442778 votes. He thrashed N Dineshkumar (M) of the DMDK who received 263463 votes. 
 
2009: C Sivasami (M) of the AIADMK received 295731 votes. He thrashed SK Kharventhan (M) of the Congress who got 210385 votes. 
 
Tamil Nadu has a total of 39 parliamentary constituencies where 7 of them including Sriperumbudur, Chidambaram, Rasipuram, Pollachi, Perambalur, Tenkasi, and Nagapattinam have been reserved for candidates representing scheduled caste community. However, no seat here has been reserved for Scheduled Tribes.
