Newly-launched Gatimaan Express was on Monday held back between Baad and Mathura junction railway stations as the pantograph of the train broke owing to thunderstorm and rains.

The train bound for Delhi was brought from a halting point to Mathura junction with the help of a diesel engine, Bhupender Dhillon, PRO, DRM office Agra said.

The train, which claims to cover a distance between Delhi and Agra in just 100 minutes, was finally directed towards Delhi with an electric engine, he added.

A pantograph is an apparatus mounted on the roof of an electric train, tram or electric bus to collect power through contact with an overhead catenary wire.
