Throat slit, run over by car: Army major's wife found murdered in Delhi Cantt area

The wife of an Army major was found murdered in the Delhi Cantonment area on Saturday, police said. The 35-year old woman's throat was found slit and she was run over by a car near Brar Square, police said. 

The body was sent to the mortuary after the formalities of the police and the forensic teams were completed. 

Initially, the police was informed that a woman had died in an accident. Later, when they inspected the body, it was found that her throat had been slit, they said. 

The woman was later identified by her husband. 

The accused had allegedly run a car over her face in order to make the incident appear as an accident, police said.

The woman went to the Army Base Hospital in Delhi Cantonment for physiotherapy session at 10 am and was found dead half an hour later.

The woman was dropped at Army base hospital in her husband's official vehicle by a driver, they said. Later, when he came back to pick her up, he could not find her and learnt that she did not attend her scheduled physiotherapy session, the police said.

No missing complaint was lodged; the police received a call informing them of the incident.

The police said they had clues about the identity of the accused and added that an investigation was underway. 

"We have solid clues about the culprit, it is almost known. The motive behind the murder wasn't a robbery or sexual assault," Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Delhi) Vijay Kumar said. 

The police have not disclosed the identity of the woman. "I don't think it is appropriate to disclose the identity of the woman as the clues are linked to the identity. We will inform you about it later," the officer was quoted as saying by ANI.
