Three-year-old girl raped in Chhattisgarh by neighbour

A three-year-old tribal girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Bhukurri village here, police said today.

50-year-old Sukhdev Dhanuhar took the girl to his residence on the pretext of giving her chocolate while she was playing in Punjipathra industrial area, Raigarh Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Prafulla Thakur said.

The accused, who was reportedly in an inebriated condition, then sexually assaulted her. After committing the crime, he left the girl and ran way, he said.

Later, the victim's mother brought the minor home after hearing her cries in the neighbourhood. On finding injury marks on her body, the parents reported the matter with the police, he said.

A medical examination confirmed that she was raped.

Based on the complaint lodged by the girl's parents, a case under section 376 (rape) was registered against labourer Dhanuhar, the ASP said.
Efforts are on to nab the absconding accused, he added.
