A Three-storey building at Thakurli in Thane district collapsed on Tuesday night, in which several persons are feared to have been trapped, an official said.

At least nine people including a woman have been killed in a building collapse on Tuesday night at Thakurli in Thane district.
The building 'Matru Chhaya' crashed at about 10.40 pm following heavy downpour. Few more persons are feared trapped under the rubble and rescue work is in progress.

Santosh Kadam of Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) said that some more occupants could be still trapped beneath the debris.
Injured persons have been admitted to Shastrinagar and AIIMS Hospital at Dombivali.
He, however, said that the exact number of persons trapped under the debris is yet to be ascertained.
Fire brigade teams from Thane, Kalyan, Bhiwandi, and Ambernath have been rushed to the site, he said.
The deceased have been identified as P V Easwaran (67), Usha Kushan (49), Pratik Hajiriya (7), Usha Sundaram and Francis Nadar (44). One of the deceased is yet to be identified.
Meanwhile, Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde, Collector Dr Ashwini Joshi visited the sight and monitored the operation. Jt CP and Additional Collector were also present.
