Three persons held for raping handicapped woman in Maharashtra

They were arrested on Wednesday after the victim filed a complaint and have been remanded to police custody till July 29.

A physically handicapped woman was allegedly gang raped at Paithan village in Akola district of Maharashtra, police said on Thursday.

According to police, the incident took place on July 20 when the woman, a labourer was called to Paithan by an acquaintance from Murtizapur tahsil town on the pretext of work after which they sexually abused her.

Three persons --Aslam Shaikh, Yogesh Kachre and Shahabuddin Shaikh, all residents of Dahiphal taluka in Sheogaon were arrested on Wednesday in relation with the case after the victim filed a complaint, police said.

The trio has been remanded to police custody till July 29.
