Three killed in car-train collision in Odisha

Three persons were killed when a passenger train rammed into their vehicle at an unmanned level crossing at Kalyanpur in Nuapada district today.

According to reports, an Indica car, carrying three persons, was on the way to Gotama from Kalyanpur in the morning hours. While the car was crossing an unmanned level crossing at Kalyanpur between Nuapada and Khariar railways stations, the Bhawanipatna-Raipur Passenger train hit the vehicle killing all of them on the spot, Additional SP Mahendra Kumar Patel said.

The impact of collision was so severe that the car was split into two pieces. While a portion of the car fell on the field on one side of the rail track, another portion of it lay on the track in which the bodies of the three passengers were found.

Tension prevailed at the place as agitated people staged demonstration on the track demanding construction of a level crossing.
