Three killed in Army shell explosion in Kutch

Three persons including a girl were killed and six others sustained injuries today when a used artillery shell exploded at Mota Dinara village of Khavda tehsil in Kutch district of Gujarat, officials said.
A firing range of Army is located in this area.

"The victims tried to break an Army shell with a hammer and it exploded," in-charge deputy superintendent of police, Bhuj, A N Vala said. The deceased were identified as Vali Mohammad Gani Sama (18), Sama Gafur Kudiya (16) and a girl called Ashaben Gani Sama (12).

While the two boys died on the spot, the girl died at the Bhuj civil hospital, Vala said. According to the police, the brass shell had been collected by a scrap dealer and the victims somehow got hold of it. The police were conducting further investigation.
