Three Delhi-bound flights, including one from Kathmandu, were diverted to Lucknow this afternoon due to Prime Minister's visit to Mathura for a public rally organised on the eve of completion of one year of the NDA government at the Centre.

All the three flights -- one each of Indigo, Jet Airways and Vistara -- were diverted to Lucknow because of the VIP3 (Prime Minister) movement, Delhi airport sources said.

The flights were diverted between 3.30 PM and 4.15 PM, they added. Besides, a number of incoming and outgoing flights from the IGI airport were also delayed due to the congestion caused by the VIP movement, they said without giving details of the flights.

While Jet Airways flight (9W-351) from Mumbai was scheduled to land at Delhi at 3.45 PM, IndiGo flight from Kathamndu at 3.30 PM and Vistara from Goa (UK-862) were diverted to Lucknow during this period, had to arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport at 3.15 pm, they added.
