Three AAP members Dharmaveer Singh, Mahender Kaur Narula and Rajendra Kumar Sonkar today joined Bhartiya Janata Party.

Attacking the Aam Aadmi Party for its "non-performance" and shuddering away from responsibility, Singh who lost to the BJP candidate Harmeet Singh in the Delhi Assembly polls last year from Kalkaji constituency, related his shifting gears to "the wave of change and development promised by the BJP."

"AAP who thrived on eradicating corruption has suddenly shifted their focus on communalism. Despite of designing specific manifesto for 70 constituencies, the party failed to take any concrete action. They faltered on many of their promises," Singh said. "There is a changed political environment today, where people want honesty, transparency and action. I believe BJP is the only alternative," he added.

Welcoming the new entrants into the party fold, BJP's Election Committee chairman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said, "the party is open to those people who adhere to the party's ideology."
Malhotra attacked Congress and AAP over the withdrawal of pension for old persons, widows, handicapped, Annashri Yojana, Ladli Yojana.  "For the last one-and-a-half year, application forms for pension to old people, widows and handicapped are not being issued. The payment of the pension amount has also been stopped. The seven Congress MPs from Delhi as well as Kejriwal-led government did nothing about it," Malhotra said. "BJP government will increase the pension of the poor and implement pro-poor schemes," he added.

The senior BJP leader also criticised the much-publicised food security programme of the UPA government, 'Annashri Yojana' with a monthly transfer of cash subsidy of Rs 600 to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of the senior-most female member of two lakh poor families. "15 lakh people filled the forms of this scheme but only one lakh people could get the benefit and the rest were left to fend for themselves," he claimed.
