While Supreme Court on Friday has refused to give an urgent hearing in Ram Temple-Babri Masjid issue, a Muslim organization in Lucknow has issued banners supporting construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Azam Khan, who has reportedly put out 10 hoardings across Lucknow, is the president of Sri Ram Mandir Nirman Muslim Kar Sevak Manch. Moreover, the man behind these pro-Ram Temple banners has sought security from police for his 'bold' step. Khan has set up a group of like-minded Muslims post the apex court's advice. According to an Indian Today report, he has been trying to build a consensus within the community.

Earlier on Friday, the Supreme Court bench told Subramanian Swamy, "We didn't know that you are a party to case." "What is your locus standi in the case? We don't have time to hear you now," the bench added. Swamy responded saying, "My faith is being affected. Don't have freedom to religion. I don't come here on a constitutional plane, I come here on a higher plane. Not interested in the property, they can keep it, but build the temple."

Earlier this month, the apex court had said the Ayodhya dispute is a sensitive and sentimental issue, adding that the matter should be settled amicably. The apex court had also asked all parties concerned to sit together so as to arrive at a consensus. During the hearing, Chief Justice of India (CJI) JS Khehar offered to serve as a mediator if negotiations break down.

However, asserting that the Muslim front in the Ram Mandir matter will have to choose a different spot to build a mosque, Swamy said that if nobody would compromise on the matter then the BJP will pass a legislation. "We are not opposing the idea of building a Masjid but not on the same spot, as it was the same spot where Lord Ram was born. But if they want to argue in the court that is also fine. We otherwise have other options, the BJP by next year will have majority in Rajya Sabha and then we can pass a legislation. And then the Muslim community will not have any Masjid to show for it," Swamy said.
