Indrani Mukerjea's ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna confessed to his crime in the Sheena Bora murder case on Friday.
Sanjeev Khanna, Indrani Mukerjea's ex-husband, is a prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case. The three accused arrested so far are media honcho Indrani Mukerjea, Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai in the 2012 Sheen Bora murder case. Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria said Khanna has confessed to his role in the crime.
Khanna has been charged under sections 364 (kidnapping), 302 (murder), 201 (destruction of evidence) and 120 (b) (hatching conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
Following points throw more light on Sanjeev Khanna:
1. Was known as a 'party animal'
Known among the party circuit of Kolkata, Khanna was a regular at the Calcutta Cricket and Football Club (CCFC) and loved his whisky. Club members reveal he was once suspended from the club after he drank too much and created nuisance.

2. Loved playing darts
Khanna loved the game of darts. He was even the secretary of the darts department of the CC&FC. On Tuesday, a day ahead of his arrest, he was at the club playing darts.

3. Famous on the motor rally circuit
Khanna was a member of the Kalinga Motor Sports Club and had participated in a Indo-Nepal Friendship Motor Rally 2015 that was held in March.

4. Was into cable TV business and later moved on to hospitality business
Khanna was into cable TV business several years ago. Later, he moved on to hospitality business with friend Ajay Rawla. He has some stake in Bawali - a rajbari turned resort in South 24 Parganas and 1658 Bar and Kitchen restaurant in Chowringhee. However, Rawla denies that Khanna has stake in his two projects, instead claims that he only provided consultancy.

5. Is a licensed ham radio operator
Khanna was not just a licensed ham radio operator, but used to repair and supply ham radio handsets to Kolkata Police.

6. Ardent fan of horse races
Khanna’s friends reveal that he was an ardent fan of horse races and could be spotted at the race course during the derby and other matches.
7. Not financially sound
For the past several years, Khanna was going through acute financial crisis. Despite the financial crunch, he could not abstain from the social circle and parties. He was even a defaulter at the club.

8. A doting father
His daughter with Indrani, Vidhie was his weakness. He was a doting father, but lost visiting rights of Vidhie after Indrani and his relationship ended badly. He had claimed during the interrogation that he was in Mumbai on April 24, 2012 to meet his daughter - the same fateful day when Sheena was allegedly murdered.
9. Live-in partner
After his separation with Indrani, Khanna did not marry again. However, in 2009, he had started dating a woman with whom he later started a live-in relationship. The woman, a divorcee with a child is also a regular at the club. She even visited him at the Alipore Police station after his arrest on August 26, 2015.
10. Active on social media
Khanna has been very active on the social media. A month before Sheena Bora was allegedly murdered, he posted a childhood picture of Vidhie. Some of his Facebook posts were even ‘liked’ by his estranged wife Indrani Mukherjea. He was active on Twitter too.
