Tamil actor and superstar Rajinikanth said on Monday that he had no desire to enter politics, but will take the political path if it's 'God's will'. He made it clear, however, that if at all he entered politics, he would be fair and true to his conscience and would never let those who want to make money out of politics come near him.

In his own philosophical style, Rajinikanth told his fans that he neither has any desire to enter politics nor is he opposed to politics entirely since 'it is in the hands of God'.

"I always say one thing, that my life is in the hands of God. I am a tool in His hands. He is using me. He is now using me as an actor. So I am acting. Tomorrow, I don't know in what way He will use me. Whatever role He gives me, I will do it in a fair manner and true to my conscience, like how I perform my role as an actor to make people happy," he said.

Rajinikanth, who completed shooting for 2.0, the sequel to his superhit Tamil film Enthiran, is meeting his die-hard fans to take individual photos with them from May 15 to May 19, after a gap of eight years. His meetings with his fans triggered speculation of his impending entry into politics, with posters hailing him as the next Chief Minister coming up in various parts of the state.

Terming his support to the DMK-Tamil Manila Congress alliance in 1996 as a political accident, the 66-year-old actor said that 21 years ago, a situation had emerged where he had to extend support to a political alliance. "From that day onwards, my name is being dragged into politics," he said, noting that some of his fans engaged themselves in politics deeply and a few of them made money out of it. He said he receives letters from his fans who want him to enter politics and some fans express their wish to make money through his entry into politics. "There is nothing wrong in the desire to become an MLA or minister. But I don't know how to react to their wish of making money through politics, whether I should get angry with them or laugh at them," he said.

Rajinikanth also cautioned his fans to not feel cheated if he did not enter politics. "If at all I enter politics, I will not let such people (who desire to make money out of politics) come near me. So I advise them to stay away from me," he said.

Addressing a large gathering of his fans, Rajinikanth requested them to refrain from smoking and drinking. "Take care of your family and children. Don't waste your life smoking and drinking. Drinking and smoking not only affects your health, but also your decision-making ability. I have been affected enough, so please take my advice seriously," he added.
