Undeterred by protests, security forces killed another terrorist in a swift operation at Kangan village in South Kashmir's Pulwama district.

Elsewhere, a Pakistan terrorist, who had escaped from the encounter site last month in Halmatpora jungles, was arrested by the security forces in Kupwara on Friday.

Police said terrorists fired at a patrol of security forces at Kangan village on Friday afternoon. "Acting swiftly, security forces killed one terrorist and recovered one AK 47 and self loading riffle (SLR) besides other incriminating materials", said a police spokesman.

Police said the identity and outfit of the slain terrorist is yet to be ascertained. "The Operation stands concluded. No collateral damage has taken place in this episode. A case in this regard has been registered, and investigations taken up," he said.

The operation comes five days after security forces killed 13 militants in three operations in Shopian and Anantnag districts of south Kashmir. Four civilians and three soldiers were also killed. Massive protests had broken out against the killings of militants and civilians. Separatists had called for three days shutdown against the killings.

In a separate incident, security forces arrested a Pakistan militant who had escaped from the encounter at Halmatpora last month.

Police said Kupwara police along with 41 Rashtriya Riffles, 98th battalion of CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Juggiyal, Turshan Mohalla, Hyhama area of the north Kashmir district.

"While the searches were underway, security forces zeroed in on a house where one terrorist was hiding. The joint forces strategically trapped the terrorist and arrested him from the spot," said the police spokesman.

Police identified the terrorist as Zabiullah of Multan in Pakistan. "He was affiliated with outlawed terror organisation Lashkar-e-Tioba. He had recently infiltrated and was part of the group which was eliminated at Halmatpora recently. Incriminating materials were recovered from his possession," said the spokesman.
