Telangana police has set up a bogus ISIS site which is radicalising Muslim Youths, alleges Congress leader Digvijaya Singh
Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Monday sparked a controversy after he alleged that Telangana police were encouraging Muslim youths to join Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS).
Singh who was on Saturday removed as office bearers in-charge of Congress units in Goa and Karnataka after party's poor performance, levelled the allegations in a series of tweets.
Taking to micro-blogging site, Singh said, "Telangana police has set up a bogus ISIS site which is radicalising Muslim Youths and encouraging them to become ISIS Modules."
"It was on their (Telangana Police) information that MP Police arrested accused who were responsible for the bomb blast in train in Shajapur District of MP. It also resulted in Saifullaha encounter in Kanpur the same day," Singh said in another tweets.
Further questioning if it was ethical and moral, Singh asked, "Has KCR authorised Telangana Police to trap Muslim Youths and encourage them to join ISIS?"
Singh also questioned if the Chief Minister had authorised then shouldn't he own the responsibility and resign? "If he hasn't then shouldn't he enquire and punish those who are responsible for committing such a heinous crime?" the Congress leader added.
More than a week ago, the Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) had busted a module with ISIS links, arresting three suspects. The arrests were made after the UP ATS conducted raids in a joint operation with the special cell of Delhi police, Maharashtra ATS, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab Police.
Whereas last month, a man named Saifullah, who was allegedly linked to the blast in a Bhopal-Ujjain train, was killed by police after a 12-hour stand-off.
The encounter came as Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh police teams carried out arrests of several "self-radicalised" persons suspected to be linked to the train blast in Shajapur in MP in which ten persons were injured.
Around 80 people suspected to have been influenced by the ISIS ideology have been held across the country recently, but no input suggests that the radical organisation has established a base in India, the government had informed the Rajya Sabha in April.
