Telangana Govt promises stern action in case of woman not allowed to breastfeed baby

The Telangana government on Tuesday said that stern action will be taken in the case where a six-month-old baby boy died after his mother, a construction worker, was allegedly not allowed to breastfeed him. Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali told PTI on Tuesday that "stern action will be taken against the culprits".

The Telangana government on Tuesday said that stern action will be taken in the case where a six-month-old baby boy died after his mother, a construction worker, was allegedly not allowed to breastfeed him. Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali told PTI on Tuesday that "stern action will be taken against the culprits".

Though the alleged incident took place on February 7 at Hatnoor in Medak District, it came to light on Sunday after which the police lodged a case under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of IPC against the site engineer of the construction company, Inspector A Ram Reddy had earlier said.

It was alleged that the woman, a native of Mahabubnagar district who lived in a shack near the construction site, was not allowed by site engineer Sudheer to feed the baby for about two hours.
