Ramappa temple in Telangana is country's nomination for the world heritage site which has been sent to UNESCO by Centre, the state government said today.

State Tourism Minister Azmeera Chandulal thanked Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma for the nomination, a state government release stated.

A proposal for the nomination was submitted to Centre by the state government in 2015 but Ramappa temple was not selected then, it said.

Every country sends one historical site as its nomination to UNESCO every year.

The UNESCO will process the nomination and send a team of experts to Ramappa temple to examine the site, the release stated, adding UNESCO will take a decision on the matter subsequently.
