Anant Media Private Ltd, which owns the Tehelka magazine, seems to be an elite club going by the investor profile of the company, which has society’s high and mighty as its stakeholders.

As per the corporate affairs ministry, 65.75% in the Anant Media Pvt Ltd is owned by Royal Building and Infrastructure Ltd, a company owned by KDS Corporation, which is promoted by Trinamool Congress’s Rajya Sabha MP and industrialist KD Singh. KDS Corporation owns 85% in the Royal Building and Infrastructure Ltd.

Meanwhile, a mail sent to the Alchemist Group – the holding of company Singh’s enterprise on the nature of his shareholding in Tehelka did not elicit any response from the group. The group chose to remain silent on the exact current shareholding of Singh in Tehelka, and his plans to withdraw his stake, among others sought in the mail.

Tarun Tejpal – the beleaguered editor of the magazine holds 19.25% stake in the Anant Media Corporation. The other stakeholders as per the corporate affairs ministry records include Ram Jethmalani (0.08%) and Kapil Sibal (0.04%).

Sources close to the development told dna that the investors in the Anant Media Corporation have sent feelers regarding withdrawing their investment.

Clouds of uncertainty loom large on the future of the Tehelka magazine as the management says that they have no Plan B in case the investors leave. “There is no clarity on this front as of now,” said a source in the Tehelka management.
