Tamil Nadu: Video of drunk students from government school in Valparai goes viral

A video showing four school students loitering near a bus stand reportedly in an inebriated state at the hill town of Valparai, about 70 km from Coimbatore, has gone viral, prompting authorities to begin an inquiry into the incident.

The students of a government school were found moving near the bus stand in uniform under the influence of liquor on Tuesday morning, police said. One of them was seen struggling even to stand up, while his friends were helping him, even as by-standers captured it on their mobile phones, they said.

On being informed, police rushed to the spot, but the students managed to escape. Police said investigations are on to ascertain how the students got hold of liquor early in the morning when state- run TASMAC outlets open only after noon.

The school management is also holding an inquiry with all students about the incident, police added.
