Vellore saw a gang war between a local rowdy and the owner of an engineering college on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, on Saturday.

The local rowdy identified as ‘Athiradi’ Maha alias Mahalingam was chased by the sons of GG Ravi, chairman of the GGR College of Engineering in Vellore. He was caught and stoned to death by the gang for allegedly trying to kill Ravi.

The incident took place near Dharamaraja temple and a person who had gone to the temple ended up clicking pictures of the murder, said The New Indian Express report.

The rivalry between Mahalingam and Ravi is not new, added report.

Maha had been sentenced to life term by a trial court for murdering the public relation officer at Christian Medical College. However, he obtained bail from Madras High Court and was not seen in public post that.

Police have now filed cases against members of Mahalingam’s gang and Ravi’s sons as well.
