Tamil Nadu Polls: Vaiko invites Vijaykant and Vasan to join PWF

The People's Welfare Front (PWF) headed by Vaiko had its meeting at Sivagiri, Tamil Nadu on Sunday.

A report in The New Indian Express quotes Vaiko as stating that both the AIADMK and the DMK promoted corruption in Tamil Nadu. Vaiko went on to add that Vijayakant did not seem to want to join AIADMK or the DMK. He added that the PWF was ready to align with parties that were against corruption and that he was ready to welcome Vijayakant and Vasan. Vijayakant was head of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam while GK Vasan was head of the Tamil Maanila Congress. 

The daily reports that when Vaiko was asked whether Vijaykant would be fielded as the Chief Minister candidate, he replied that they would decide these aspects only after Vijayakant joins the PWF.

At the public meeting, Vaiko spoke about how the DMK should be punished for the mistakes they made before. He added that the Congress and DMK were like cobras at the Centre and state. He also said that the DMK should explain why they have a tie-up with the Congress. He pointed out that DMK leader Karunanidhi had stated before that Congress had harassed his daughter Kanimozhi by lodging her at the Tihar jail and had harassed his wife Dayalu Ammal psychologically.
