The Tamil Manila Congress (TMC) led by GK Vasan seems to be left with limited options this election. A few days ago, the TMC seemed to get positive signals from Poes Garden and was hopeful of forming an alliance with the AIADMK. However, the list of candidates that Jayalalithaa announced does not feature the TMC.

The Hindu had reported earlier that senior AIADMK leaders had been in talks with GK Vasan and nearly 15 seats were up for offer. However, nothing came out of it and the party was sidelined by the AIADMK.

Despite this, a senior TMC leader has told the Deccan Chronicle that earlier the AIADMK has announced its candidate list and then withdrawn a few people to accommodate allies. He also told the daily that they had been invited by the DMDK-PWF alliance and the BJP to join them as well.

CPI state secretary R Mutharasan has told that daily that it was upto GK Vasan to decide whether to join the DMDK-PWF and that the invitation had been extended.

Now, with senior leaders in DMDK asking Vijayakant to rethink the PWF alliance it remains to be seen what will happen. If the DMDK decides to break off with the PWF and join the DMK, then will TMC join this new alliance or still go with the PWF?

A senior DMDK leader told the daily that Vijayakant had good relations with GK Vasan and would be willing to accommodate the TMC. GK Vasan has reportedly said that he would decide who they will ally with within the next few days.
