People generally tend to sell furniture, automobiles and mobiles on Quikr and Olx. Some even advertise pets like birds, cats and dogs. But now farmers have taken to these websites to sell their cattle, sheep and other such farm animals.
A report in the New Indian Express states that there are over 500 ads that are active in the Other Animals category in Tamil Nadu on Olx. The majority of animals on sale in this category are cattle, goats and sheep.
The report states the farmers selling their cattle find it easier to go digital than to deal with middlemen, brokers and logistics. Uploading pictures of the animals and negotiation over phone seems to be far more attractive than carting the animal to a prospective buyer each time.
Farmers and those keen on selling their animals are taking the help of those who understand the working of the Internet, to put their animals for sale on these sites.
