Senior Congress party leader Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday alleged that Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao was not fulfilling his duties and playing politics under BJP's direction.

On Wednesday, Digvijaya Singh tweeted, "Political turmoil in Tamil Nadu and Governor playing truant."

He further stated, "Is he fulfilling his duties? No, He is doing politics under direction of BJP."

Earlier, state Congress president S Thirunavukkarasar had blamed BJP-led NDA government at the Centre for the political chaos in Tamil Nadu and alleged that the latter was trying to utilise the situation to stamp the presence of the saffron party in the state.

"Modi government is playing dirty game. They want to create problem for the political parties and they want to get some advantage as BJP has no hold in Tamil Nadu and they think this an opportunity to be utilised," he said.

On Tuesday night, immediately after breaking ranks with Sasikala, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Pannerselvam went into a huddle with his supporters, even as the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's (AIADMK) chief VK Sasikala Natarajan held a brainstorming session with party leaders.

Later, in a rather shocking turn of events, Sasikala removed the incumbent chief minister from the post of the party's treasurer after he openly revolted at the memorial of J Jayalalithaa and claimed that he had been forced to resign from the post. Panneerselvam has been replaced by former member of parliament, Dindigul Sreenivasan.
