Swine flu: Three more die, 70 new cases reported in Gujarat

There is no respite from swine flu. On Friday, three more swine flu patients were reported dead in the state, taking the total number of deaths in the current year to 54, the state government said.

One death was reported from Bhavnagar, and two from Botad, the state health department said in a release.

Seventy swine flu cases were reported in the state today. With this, the total number of cases in 2019 went up to 1,187. Of these, 455 patients are undergoing treatment, and 678 had recovered.

Ahmedabad city accounted for 25 of the 70 new cases that were confirmed on Friday. Ahmedabad city has reported 373 swine flu cases so far, i.e. 32% of the total cases in the state.

Vadodara city and Sabarkantha reported six cases. Rajkot city, Rajkot district, and Gandhinagar reported four cases each, while Bhavnagar city, Jamnagar city, and Vadodara district saw three cases each. Two cases were confirmed in Surat city. Kutch, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Anand, Ahmedabad district, Patan, Gandhinagar city, Kheda, Panchmahal, and Navsari reported one case each.
