In a shocking claim, a Jharkhand minister on Wednesday called renowned social activist Swami Agnivesh a ‘fraud’. He also claimed that the former minister had himself planned the mob attack to gain popularity.
CP Singh, the minister in the BJP government in Jharkhand also added that ‘as far as I know, Swami Agnivesh is a person who survives on foreign donations. The saffron dress that he wears is to deceive the simple Indians.’
The bizarre statement comes a day after the brazen attack on the social activist in Jharkhand’s Pakur district. Swami Agnivesh had alleged that the mob consisted of several BJP Yuva Morcha workers.
Agnivesh was staying reportedly at Muskan Hotel, from where he was scheduled to attend the 195th Damin Mahotsav at Littpara.
Swami Agnivesh had alleged that there was no police personnel present when the incident took place.
"Even when I repeatedly called SP and DM they didn't turn up. I was told that ABVP & BJP Yuva Morcha workers want to protest. I told them there's no need to protest, they can come in & talk. No one came in at that time," Agnivesh told ANI.
"They suddenly attacked and hurled abuses at me. I want that they are identified from CCTV footage and video available with media and action be taken against them," he added.
Reports also said that a mob also raised slogans of ‘Swami go back’.
Rahul Gandhi’s ‘pop quiz’
Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday took a jibe at the saffron party posting a "pop quiz" on Twitter. In his post on micro-blogging website today, Rahul asked, "I use hatred and fear to maintain the hierarchy of power, who am I". Gandhi posted the 'pop quiz' on Twitter and tagged a video of the Swami Agnivesh assault shown by a news channel.
