Suspected 'tail strike' makes Jet Airways Mumbai-Bangkok flight return to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport

The aircraft is currently being inspected by the Jet Airways Engineering team and ground personnel.

A Jet airways flight 9W 70 (Mumbai-Bangkok) had to air turn back at the airport after being suspected to have suffered a tail strike on Friday morning. All 180 passengers and 8 crew members are said to be safe and have deplaned.

"Acting proactively in the interest of safety, the crew of Jet Airways flight 9W 70, BOM-BKK of May 12, 2017 executed an air turn back to Mumbai on account of a 'suspected' tail strike. " said a Jet airways spokesperson.

The airline officials said that as a consequence of the incident, the flight has been delayed and expected to depart at 12:45 pm.
