A suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist, Salim Khan, who was wanted since 2008 for a terror attack on a Rampur camp of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), was arrested from Mumbai Airport on Monday by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) with the help of their Maharashtra counterparts.

Khan is allegedly the financier of suspected ISI agent Aftab Ali, who was earlier arrested from Faizabad by the UP ATS. Khan would allegedly give instructions for military espionage to Ali from abroad, the police said.

According to sources, Khan is a resident of Hathgao in Fatehpur, UP, and had been trained at a Muzaffarabad terrorist camp. The police said that Khan had come under their radar for his alleged involvement in the fidayeen attack on the Rampur CRPF camp in January 2008. The police claimed that Khan's name had also cropped up when two terrorists had told the police that Khan had also been with them at the Muzaffarabad terror training camp.
