Sushilkumar Shinde's 75th birthday celebrated with much fervour

President Pranab Mukherjee said that Shinde's life has been an untold story of many men and women of this country who have overcome all hurdles in their lives with determination.

Stating that Sushilkumar Shinde's life story resembles that of the Indian parliamentary democracy, which has stood against all odds, President Pranab Mukherjee, on Sunday said that Shinde's life has been an untold story of many men and women of this country who have overcome all hurdles in their lives with determination.

President Mukherjee felicitated Shinde, on the latter's 75th birthday on Sunday. He also felicitated Ujjwala Shinde, wife of Shinde, and lauded her for supporting her husband during every struggle of his life

Governor CV Rao, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Congress state unit president and Lok Sabha MP Ashok Chavan, leader of opposition in state assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, chairman of Sushilkumar Shinde felicitation committee DY Patil and former union ministers - Sharad Pawar, P Chidambaram, Shivraj Patil, Praful Patel, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Kumari Selja were present on the dais.

Mukherjee said Shinde overcame of all his problems with determination, including social obstructions, financial constraints and environmental circumstances, and this story of determination has resulted in celebration of his birthday with luminaries and the who's who in Indian politics and administration.

Dedicating all his contribution in public life to the people of Solapur, Shinde said it was the people of Solapur who have made a small barefoot boy-selling ice candies on the streets of Solapur-the home minister of this country. He said he kept on working despite all odds, which led him to meet good people and shape his future.

Sharad Pawar said Shinde's life was an ideal example for the youth, showing how one can shape their career despite all odds. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said Shinde is not big because he held big offices, but because he was a great human being, who won the respect and affection of people all across the political spectrum. Governor Rao said that even before any verbal communication, it was Shinde's big smile that won whomsoever he came across.
