The Supreme Court was today irked over non-response of Odisha government in the case relating to posting of rape videos on WhatsApp and asked its Chief Secretary to appear in person on April 10, the next date of hearing.

A social justice bench of Justices Madan B Lokur and UU Lalit, which had taken suo motu cognizance of posting rape videos, had issued notices to the Centre, CBI and others including Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana.

The apex court had on March 13 imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Odisha after no lawyer appeared on its behalf. "Something is wrong with Odisha," the bench said when it again found no lawyer on behalf of the state.

Earlier, the bench had also imposed a fine on Telangana for not giving a detailed report about the progress made in the investigation in the case relating to assault on the car of a member of an NGO who had written to the Chief Justice of India about the incident.
