The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday praised the Delhi police for an impartial probe. Amid intense public outrage, the Delhi Police had faced the challenge of nabbing the six accused. Deputy Commissioner of Police Chhaya Sharma then formed a 15-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police P Kushwaha.

As soon as the matter came to light, the entire South District team was put in to service. But it was Constable Lukhvinder Singh's keen eye and his senior, ACP Kulwant Singh's ground work that gave the cops their first lead. After talking to the victim's friend for a few minutes, Kulwant left for the spot. The information such as the colour, make, and design of the bus, and its route and timing was known. He also got to know that the back door of the bus was locked permanently.

Kulwant and Lukhvinder then went towards the Mahipalpur flyover, where the victims were dumped. After surveying the spot, Kulwant checked the CCTV footage of the Airport Hotel. In the footage, Kulwant noticed a white bus, with the label 'Yadav' on it, going towards Gurugram at 9.34 pm.

This was the first clue, that the bus was run by Yadav transport. Finally, they found the bus parked at the Ravi Das Camp in RK Puram, from where Ram Singh was nabbed, the first arrest in the case.
