The Supreme Court has expressed its concern over the concern over the improper rehabilitation of victims of acid attacks.

According to reports, a bench comprising Justice Madan B Lokur and Justice UU Lalit have directed the government to appraise it of steps taken to provide free treatment to those who have suffered the 'heinous crime'.

The court has also reportedly asked Home Secretary LC Goyal to convene a meeting of state Chief Secretaries and Home Secretaries within four weeks in order to work out modalities to implement Section 357C of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which mandates provision of free treatment by public and private hospitals to the victims of criminal activities.
