Days after making his debut political speech in Chennai, Superstar Rajinikanth has left for Himalayas for his annual spiritual trip.

According to latest media reports, the Superstar will visit the Himalayan caves for his meditation. During the trip, he will also spend some time at the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India’s centre.

Thailavar is known to be fairly regular with such trips. Generally, he undertakes these trips before release of any mega movie.

The trip comes days after his maiden political speech. During the address,  Rajinikanth said that he has entered the politics to fill up the vacuum for a good leader citing the demise of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa and ailing DMK president M Karunanidhi.

“Some people are saying that they are coming because of vacuum. Yes, there is a vacuum. A vacuum for a good leader and leadership. There were two great leaders in the state.  Nobody can argue that Jayalalithaa was a great leader and her governance. On the other hand, there was Karunanidhi who kept his party together for 13 long years in the opposition. He is unwell now. I am coming to fill up that vacuum,” Rajinikanth had declared to a thunderous applause of over 5,000 students and his supporters gathered at the function to unveil a statue of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MG Ramachandran at the Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute.

In an apparent dig at his contemporary and another actor turned politician Kamal Haasan, who has launched his own party Makkal Needhi Maiam, Rajinikanth said that despite his clarification, some people still asking questions over spiritual politics. “I have clearly said that spiritual politics is nothing but the politics of dharma based on honesty and probity while devoid of caste and religion. You can also call it as clean politics. Belief in god is also spiritual politics,” he said, asking does Dravidian means no belief in God or is it against cleanliness and casteless politics. “You are going to see spiritual politics soon,” he said. Haasan had said that Rajinikanth’s politics has a hue of saffron in it citing his call for spiritual politics.
