The well marked low pressure area over southeast
Vidarbha and neighbourhood lay over west Vidarbha and
neighbourhood, yesterday evening. It now lies as a low
pressure area over southwest Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood.
Associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 kms a. s. l.
tilting southwestwards with height. The axis of monsoon trough
at mean sea level now passes through Barmer, centre of the
above low pressure area, Akola, Bramhapuri, Kalingapatnam and
thence east-southeastwards to eastcentral Bay of Bengal.
The cyclonic circulation over Arakan coast and
neighbourhood persists and now extends between 1.5 and 5.8 kms
a. s. l. The western disturbance as an upper air cyclonic
circulation over eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir and
neighbourhood has moved away east-northeastwards yesterday
evening. A fresh western disturbance as an upper air cyclonic
circulation lies over north Pakistan and neighbourhood and
extends between 3.1 and 4.5 kms a. s. l. System is likely to
move east-northeastwards.
The cyclonic circulation over south Pakistan and
neighbourhood has become less marked.
The southwest Monsoon has been vigorous over
Saurashtra & Kutch, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada and
active over Gujarat Region, Konkan and Goa and Kerala. It has
been subdued over Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, east Uttar
Pradesh, west Rajasthan and east Madhya Pradesh.
Cumulative Rainfall: Total rainfall during the past 24
hours reported by 349 stations in the plains is 337.5 cms.
Normal for these 349 stations is 358.0 cms.
