In his maiden intervention after swearing in as a member of the Upper House, Zee and Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra sought a reply from finance minister Arun Jaitley during the Question Hour.

Chandra asked a supplementary question on the question raised by Digvijay Singh on crisis in the banking sector created by a large number of willful defaulters and the government's plan to share this information with the public.

Chandra asked Jaitley if the government has chargesheeted any companies for criminal offence. "Are there any corporate houses and companies that have been chargesheeted for criminal offence? Has there been a restructuring of their debts or any waiver of the debts? If there is any, I would like to have some details thereof," said Chandra.

The finance minister, however, cited his limitations on making details of individual cases public. "If there is any specific names that the honourable member has in mind, he can write to me separately and I will check up those details," said Jaitley.
