Condemning the recent Assam attack, various student wings of the North-East on Saturday staged a protest against the killings by the National Democratic Front of Bodoland Songbijit (NDFB) (S).

The All Assam Students Union (AASU) along with All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), Bodo Sahitya Sabha, All Assam Tribal Sangha, All Assam Tea Tribe Association (Attsa) and the All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA) gathered in Guwahati to discuss the issue of NDFB (S) killings in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur district of Assam on Tuesday.

The reason for the meeting was to send a message to the people of both the community to restrain from violence and live peacefully among themselves keeping away from the third force that may try to create more tension between both the communities.

In a joint press conference, the leaders of the organization held the Assam government responsible for the failure to protect the live and property of the people in the Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD) and also failing to deal with the militant groups since long.

The leaders also complained that the government machinery have failed to provide food to the people living in the relief camps. Around 2500 people are in the relief camps from both Bodo and Advasi community. The leaders are demanding strong action and time bound action against the NDFB(S) and others in the state.

Army Chief General Dalbir Singh has also left for Assam to take stock of the situation.
