Student commits suicide at being scolded for not wearing NCC uniform for Republic Day function

An 18-year-old girl student of a private college allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her classroom on Tuesday after being ticked off for not wearing the NCC uniform for the Republic day function.

Police said that Sulochana, a first year B.A. student at a private arts and Science college in Thanjavur, was very upset over her seniors in NCC reprimanding her for not coming in uniform.

Her body has been sent for post mortem, they said.
