A boatman in Kashmir was reportedly drowned after he saved three tourists who fell into water after their boat capsized.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, sixty-year-old Ghulam Mohammad Guroo, was on Jhelum on his shikara with three tourists on Wednesday in Srinagar. Suddenly, the boat capsized and Guroo saved the tourists, reports HT. But, the tourists allegedly insisted Guroo to dive back into the water and get their bag during which the man was swept away.

The unidentified tourists allegedly left the spot in a hurry.

Guroo's body has not been recovered yet, and it is feared that his body could have been swept away many kilometres downstream from the accident spot due to strong current.

Guroo is survived by his sister Ruqaiya and brother Ramzan. His grieving family have accused the tourists of being 'heartless'.
