SpiceJet passenger caught carrying 22 live bullets at Pune airport, handed over to police

The passenger was to travel for Banglore by a SpiceJet flight from Pune.

A passenger scheduled to travel on a SpiceJet flight from Pune to Mumbai was caught carrying as many as 22 bullets in his baggage. The airline's staff found the live rounds in his bag at Pune airport and handed him over to the police when he failed any valid document.

The passenger was to travel for Banglore by SpiceJet flight No. SG-519 from Pune.

"SpiceJet security staff during baggage screening found a passenger carrying 22 live cartridges at Pune airport. He was questioned by SpiceJet staff & CISF was immediately informed. The passenger was handed over to CISF & was then taken to local police station," a spokesperson from the private airline said. 

The incident took place at around 4:45 am. The flight was scheduled to take off from Pune at 5:55 am. 

Earlier on Thursday, a SpiceJet aircraft returned to Mumbai airport soon after taking off for Dubai following a technical glitch.

The snag was rectified by airline engineers and the plane resumed the journey to Dubai after a delay of four hours. All passengers are said to be safe.
