BJP chief Amit Shah today attacked the Congress-SP alliance, saying it is the coming together of two families who are neck deep in corruption.

"Akhilesh Yadav has already accepted defeat or he would not have joined hands with the Congress," he said at an election rally here. Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh, he said, "The mother of one of them is fed up with her son, the father of the other is not happy with him. People of the state were dealing with only one, but now they will have to face two." This is the first time that the Samajwadi Party has entered an alliance with any national party for elections in the state. While SP will is contesting on 298 seats, Congress has fielded candidates on the remaining 105 seats.

Shah asked the Samajwadi Party government to tell people on what it spent the additional fund of Rs 2.5 lakh crore given by the Narendra Modi government. He said if BJP came to power in the state, it would "take up every case of atrocity on people".

"People of the state were troubled by successive BSP, SP governments in the past 15 years and to change the future, they need to vote for the BJP," the party president said. He termed the bitter family feud in the ruling SP that played out in public as a "mere drama".
