Former AICC president Sonia Gandhi launched development projects worth Rs 75 crore in her Parliamentary constituency Rae Bareli.

On a two-day visit to Rae Bareli on Tuesday and Wednesday, she laid foundation stones for the construction of a marriage hall, roads, water tanks, and laying of power lines. Sonia was on a tour-day visit to her constituency after more than one-and-a-half years.

The former Congress president held a Janata Darbar along with his son and current party president Rahul Gandhi at the Guest House and held closed door meetings with the PCC members, party leaders and workers.

She also inaugurated a Passport Seva Kendra at the main post office in Rae Bareli for the convenience of people.

While under doctor's restriction due to her recent health complications, she attended the house warming ceremony of former Samajwadi Party minister and MLA Manoj Kumar Pandey.

Tight security arrangements and a team of doctors who accompanied her, however, did not allow her to directly meet the people and go out to attend a few more public functions organised during her visit.
